Irritable Bowel Syndrome Relief Through Yoga

Irritable Bowel Syndrome can be a complicated and emotionally distressing problem.  Any health issue that becomes chronic can take the enjoyment out of certain activities, cause you to limit yourself and may ultimately lead to anxiety and depression.  I urge you to keep trying to find a solution to this problem.  In my case it was a combination of factors that helped me to manage my IBS.  I first sought help from a nutritionist.  I learned a great deal and have changed the way I eat for my own overall optimum health however, this did not cure my IBS.  Next I had my physician refer me to an excellent gastroenterologist.  By this time my IBS had dragged on for years and I had developed panic attacks as a result of constantly being fearful that I would not make it to the bathroom in time.  To my doctor's credit he did not just brush aside my IBS as stress related (although stress and anxiety can make the problem worse)  He treated the problem, gave me valuable information and within weeks it was finally under control.  However, as panic attacks often do, they have a life of their own.  They start for one reason and then continue for another (the fear of having a panic attack leads to a panic attack).  I had to now find solutions to that problem, and I did with great success. Click here to find out how.   My Yoga practice was an important part of that.  This is my personal story.  Yours may be different, I have even heard that an overactive gallbladder can cause IBS so please don't give up your search for a solution.  I know how awful living with this was and how wonderful it is to be free.

Yoga can help people with IBS in many ways.  There are poses and sequences of poses that will help relieve the symptoms of IBS, Chrohn's and ulcerative colitis.  If stress and anxiety are snowballing your condition, yoga will help you a great deal.  Yoga has been proven to help participants effectively manage the stress in their lives and it will give you a sense of control over your health and wellbeing.  You will, of course, benefit by being more fit and in tune with your body.  Please do not be embarrassed to discuss this problem with me.  I understand and want to help.
