     Yoga is a wonderful addition to your weight loss plan.  Combining a brisk daily walk, colourful, wholesome foods and Yoga would be ideal.  Swimming or Aqua fit classes are also a magnificent way to get your heart rate up without causing too much stress on your joints.  Yoga will help you sculpt your body by toning, strengthening and lengthening your muscles.  Muscles burn calories much faster than fat.  As you become stronger, your metabolism will  increase.  You needn't worry about being too overweight to begin doing Yoga.  I would be honoured to help you on your journey.  Every student in my class will be modifying poses to suit their needs and fitness levels.  The atmosphere I strive to create is fun and non-competitive.  

     We know that habits are not broken, they are replaced.  We are all driven by our years of accumulated habits.  We are all driven by our beliefs about ourselves.  You might be astonished to find how many negative messages you send yourself in the course of an hour.  Yoga can help you love yourself the way you are NOW so that you can begin to blossom into your true self.  As you perform the postures, you will be directed to focus on your breath with singular attention.  I believe this to be the most challenging and rewarding aspect of the practice.  You may find that your mind begins to wander, or judge yourself in some way, after only about 10 seconds or so.  With time you will learn to quiet your inner dialogue.  With time you will learn to plant positive messages into your conscious and eventually unconscious mind.  This can change your life dramatically.  Any act with practice becomes easy.  Thus a new good habit is born, for when an act becomes easy through repetition it becomes a pleasure to perform and if it is a pleasure to perform it is our nature to perform it often.

     Many of us do unhealthy things when we feel anxious or are under a lot of stress.  Yoga will help you relieve stress.  When you are feeling calm and centered you will be less likely to make unhealthy food choices.  With the constant attention to alignment that I provide in my classes, your posture will improve along with a mindfulness about your body.  Good posture and a joyful, calm nature will outwardly project a better sense of who you are to the world.  This will be projected back to you and increase your self-confidence.  I look forward to meeting you.
